Maria Island
Maria Island is a stunning island off an island National Park just a short 45 minute boat cruise off the East Coast of Tasmania. It is rich in local wildlife, amazing scenery and world heritage convict history. With no cars on the island, we enjoy a series of short walks exploring the beautiful Painted Cliffs, the dramatic Fossil Cliffs along with the remarkable Darlington World Heritage convict site, old Oast houses and the early settler's cottages and farmsteads. The island is a Noah's ark for wildlife and is home to wallabies, kangaroo's, rare Cape Barren Geese, wombats and the recently introduced Tasmanian Devil. Swim in the pristine sheltered bays overlooking Mercury Passage or snorkel in the crystal clear waters of the Marine Reserve. Watch out for dolphins, seals and penguins - even the odd whale - on your boat crossing to this island paradise. This island is a world away on your doorstep from Hobart! This is a tour for active travellers who are keen to walk and enjoy this unique island. Join us on this day of discovery rich in environmental and cultural history.
