kipli takara piyura kitina-ta is a bush foods walk departing from Risdon Cove, where guests are invited to taste the timeless palate of the piyura kitina. The experience lasts for approx 90 minutes which includes a walk across the culturally rich landscape with palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal) guides, hearing about the past and current history of the land. Guests will sample native bush tucker that is currently in season and glimpse first hand how palawa continue to enjoy the native foods. The ‘kipli takara’ experience ends with a unique tasting of native food flavours and drinks, catered from palawa kipli (the Tasmanian Aboriginal owned and operated catering company). Public tours include, access to piyura kitina, guided walk and native finger food and drinks. You can also request a private cultural food package experience as a add-on to the kipli takara tour. This includes a sit down cultural dining experience. We offer a set menu of 6 plates, for our high end cultural dining experiences for groups of up to 30 people. These are primarily delivered at our facility at Piyura kitina/Risdon Cove, but we are also willing to collaborate with external partners to offer these events across the state.
