Discover the delights of mono printing with professional printmaker and fabric designer Deborah Wace. During this day-long workshop, Deborah will lead you through the art of mono printing, which is such a painterly, direct and exciting printmaking technique. Through demonstration and practice you will learn how to create visually complex and exquisite tonal modulation in your prints. Deborah will guide you in techniques using found items, botanical specimens and hand-cut stencils. Discover key print-making concepts, whilst you create new artwork and gather skills, utilising two etching presses. This workshop provides a stimulating and intimate environment in which to creatively explore the world of printmaking. Deborah, a printmaker with 20 years’ experience, creates large-scale dry-point etchings and fabric designs based on Tasmania’s native orchids, Buttongrass and rainforest flora. She recently completed a Churchill Fellowship to Europe, researching the Tasmanian botanical collections made by early French explorers, to develop new designs for fabric production from Tasmanian flora. The botanical specimens, engravings and artist proofs, inspire her teaching. Classes (max 5 persons) are held from 9:30 to 4:00pm in Deborah’s Design Studio: level 9, 65 Murray St, Hobart. Cost per workshop is only $210. Includes art materials, morning tea and a delicious vegetarian lunch. WORKSHOP DATES: Visit the deborahwace.com website or Humanitix for workshop dates. Bookings for dates other than the scheduled classes, can be easily negotiated.
