Blue Hills Honey

This is a hosted stay through Hipcamp, below is the information provided by the Host regarding their offering. The site is a simple, level grassed paddock with easy access off a country road in Mawbanna. 10 minutes along the access road are Dip Falls and The Big Tree, as well as Blue Hills Honey Farm and The Colony Cafe (well worth the calories!) Back down the access road towards the highway is the Millicent Valley walking trail. At the highway junction, there is access to several long, sandy beaches. East of the site is Rocky Cape National Park with spectacular hiking tracks, and swimming and fishing spots. Pets are welcome. Campfires are permitted, and you may bring your own wood or see your host to organise some wood for you.

For the past 100 years, the roaring 40s have not stopped Beth's Cottage from braving the storm. You can stay in this warm comfortable secluded, self contained three bedrooms weatherboard cottage and experience all the elements including the calm before the storm and peace and tranquility it leaves behind. Enjoy the best of the northwest of Tasmania with panoramic views across Bass Straight to Rocky Cape National Park and the Nut in Stanley. Generous provisions with local produce in season allow you to enjoy your breakfasts and if required other meals in the secluded comfort of this well appointed kitchen with the slow combustion stove, electric cook top, microwave and bbq and wood heated living room. Soak in the bath with a view, walk the rainforest and look for wildlife which can appear and surprise you. The bedrooms, one queen bed with ensuite, one with two king singles or one king and the third with two singles with adjoining bathroom. Linen, blankets and towels supplied. Laundry facilities are available. Local in-season produce can be supplied on request. We are between Wynyard and Stanley. From here you can travel to the West Coast and in the other direction to Cradle Mountain.

The Lodge started construction in 2003 – completed in 2009, is located on 110 acres nestled on the edge of the majestic wilderness named ‘The Tarkine’. The Tarkine is the second largest area of temperate rainforest in the world and is home to many varieties of natural vegetation and wildlife. The Tarkine Wilderness Lodge offers guests exclusive use of the facility including 3 luxurious rooms with ensuite and beautiful vistas, on site caravans as well as the campground. The Lodge was purchased by NJL (National Joblink) in early 2021, opening the property up to School Groups and other local Community Organisations, as well as continuing to offer it for self-catered bookings via Airbnb.
