Brahms's Violin Concerto | Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra

A conductor holding a baton
World renowned violinist James Ehnes performs the Brahms Violin Concerto, with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. The Brahms Violin Concerto never fails to dazzle and delight. Composed for Joseph Joachim, one of the greatest violinists of all time, this bold and dramatic work is one of Brahms’s finest creations. Hear it performed by the phenomenally gifted James Ehnes, one of the most sought-after violinists on the international stage. While the Symphony No 1 by Jean Sibelius is less well known than the Brahms concerto, it is every bit as enthralling. From its hushed and mysterious opening – a barely audible theme played by the clarinet – to its muscular and sweeping close, the Symphony No 1 charts a powerful emotional arc. Bringing drama and depth to this concert is the always brilliant Eivind Aadland, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
