Silver Ridge Retreat
Silver Ridge Retreat is a 180-acre property surrounded by old-growth forest at the foot of Sheffield's Mt Roland offering mountain views, approximately 30 minutes from Devonport and the Spirit of Tasmania. The cottages all have two bedrooms, with a queen bed in the main and three singles in the 2nd bedroom. There are abundant native animals, an indoor heated swimming pool and an 1870s silver mine with stalactites, cave spiders and glow-worms. Plenty of walking trails nearby, including the Mt Roland Summit Track. There are evening wildlife walks (weather dependent) to see possum, wallaby, owl and platypus and an abundance of stars. You might even see Aurora Australis over the southern mountains. Accommodation options include cottages, a private suite and an open plan studio. Most offer cooking facilities and some feature a spa bath. All accommodation is air-conditioned with satellite tv/dvd and tea/coffee making facilities. Silver Ridge Retreat is a ten-minute drive from the restaurants and shops in Sheffield, the "Town of Murals" and a 20-minute drive from Lake Barrington International Rowing Course and Tasmazia, the world's largest outdoor maze complex. It is a 40 minute drive from Cradle Mountain, Mole Creek Caves, Trowunna Wildlife Park and Tassie's Tasting Trail. Surrounded by alpine fields, contented cows and horse, Silver Ridge Retreat is a peaceful relaxing experience. "Noise" here is bird song, wind and running water.
