Drop into the visitor information centre located inside the Galley Museum in Queenstown and discover what's happening across the West Coast - and what happened in days gone by. View an extensive range of brochures and visitor information, chatting to volunteers to get all the best local tips. There's also a range of products that make the perfect gift or souvenir to remember a visit to Queenstown, with many designed by West Coasters, created by West Coasters, or made from West Coast materials. Affordable entry fees will gain you access to the Galley Museum featuring 30 rooms housing unique collections telling stories of West Coast survival, endurance, and sacrifice. The collections hold (in some cases) the last vestiges of the former mines and communities of the West Coast, providing a very personal record of the people themselves and their daily lives. Located within the heritage-listed Imperial Hotel (constructed in 1897), the visitor information centre and museum are managed by dedicated volunteers. The museum is also a Children's University Learning Destination and children receive a free activity pack.
