Moorilla
Moorilla is one of Tasmania’s oldest wineries. Nestled on a small peninsula on the River Derwent, it was founded in 1956 by textile magnate Claudio Alcorso, before being bought by David Walsh in 1995, and the site is now home to the Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) as well as the winery. As part of the development of Mona, the winery was completely rebuilt and is now housed just above the museum entrance (fruit for the winery is drawn from Moorilla as well as a northern vineyard in the Tamar Valley). The site also holds Moorilla’s Cellar Door and the Moorilla Wine Bar. As well as tastings, we offer a range of premium tours and experiences through the Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia program. Moorilla produces red, white, and sparkling wines using estate-grown cool-climate grape varieties across three styles: the quaffable Praxis; elegant Muse, and high-end Cloth Label.
