A two storey heritage building
An intriguing old building where gritty glamour prevails, The Bowmont is a mellow country house in the scenic village of Franklin. A romantic two bedroom apartment, ideal for discerning couples travelling together or those seeking a spacious getaway for two. With views of the Huon River from every window, guests have exclusive use of the first floor apartment. Once the private bank managers residence, now a relaxed and elegant retreat, there are two large bedrooms with water views featuring queen beds, quality French and Belgian linens, a glorious bathroom with walk-in shower, huge tub and underfloor heating. There's an eat-in kitchenette and a cosy sitting room with a custom made window seat overlooking the Huon River. Standing gracefully on the banks of the Huon River, The Bowmont has witnessed the passing of a century. This stately two-storey icon in central Franklin was originally constructed as the Commercial Bank of Tasmania. Solid bones remain a hallmark of its 1906 heritage, and behind its painted façade it's brimming with intriguing secrets. The imposing façade hides a lifetime of reinventions but lots of period features remain including the spectacular blackwood staircase, soaring windows and endless nooks and crannies. In the refurb of The Bowmont, these structural nuances are respected and enhanced to create a two-bedroom apartment that cherishes and preserves its colourful history.
