We'll tell you all about the architecture and characters of colonial Hobart who made their homes in the once not so glamorous Battery Point. Today, Battery Point is our most exclusive suburb and a small cottage can set you back in the millions. Our pioneers would have never imagined it! Winding our way through the narrow streets of Battery Point, we then make our way down to the Waterfront which was the first point of settlement in Tasmania. Historic buildings abound here too but the pace is now more modern and exciting. Come through this area at any time of the year and you are surrounded by excited visitors, fishing boats and ocean going yachts. Your tour culminates back on the iconic Salamanca Place, a beautifully preserved Georgian streetscape, now home to arts, crafts, food and wine.

This culinary delight is tucked beneath Salamanca Wharf Hotel on Hobart’s waterfront. At Farzi, the flavours are bold and vibrant. A menu that shifts with the seasons delivers the finest local ingredients served up with a Farzi feel – such as Not Your Average Avo Toast, complete with avocado, feta, pomegranate, radish, dukkah, beetroot purée and poached eggs. Drop in for an alfresco brunch with specialty coffee or spend the evening at Farzi’s. Come nightfall, share plates flow with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. The five-course Chef’s Menu is a gastronomic celebration, ranging from smoked butter chicken to delicate kingfish ceviche. With ‘Feed Me’ multi-course menus, Farzi moves from modern Australian by day to neo Indian by night.

Gin-uary Hobart Gin Festival was created to celebrate Tasmania’s amazing gin industry. Tassie is known for its high quality and locally made produce – and gin is no different. Tasmania is the birthplace of modern day distilling and, now in its fourth year, Gin-uary has become an important annual event for the Tasmanian spirits industry. Shining a light on Tasmanian distilling, Gin-uary gives distillers, regardless of their size, the opportunity for visibility on a national scale. Ginuary is a vehicle for awareness of the abundance of Tasmanian distillers doing amazing things across the industry. Gin-uary is also all about having fun! Learning about what makes each gin unique, sampling the wares and enjoying the experience with mates. There will be a delicious variety of food vendors at the event as well as the Gin-uary bar slinging cocktails and Gin-uary G&T’s.
