Huntsman Cottages is located opposite the Huntsman Lake and surrounded by breathtaking views of the Great Western Tiers (kooperoona niara). Visitor accommodation consists of two cottages, 'Fefo's Rest' and 'Savuka Lodge', which can be booked individually or as a group. These architect-designed cottages accommodate 2-4 people and are fully self-contained with a fridge, cooking facilities, washing machine, dryer, TV, internet, heating/cooling, BBQ and a communal firepit. Pristine mountain streams feed the lake which contains brown trout replenished by natural breeding. Trout fishing is permissible throughout the year. Tagged fish, with substantial rewards, are released annually into the lake. There is a ramp with a jetty for boating and kayaking and the lake is a stunning attraction for swimming and picnicking The area offers spectacular day hikes suitable for a variety of fitness levels. These include the must-see Meander Falls track, Split Rock, Chasm Falls, Stone Hut, Mother Cummings Eastern ascent and many more. For the more adventurous, Meander River Adventures offers a sledding experience down the Meander River. Deloraine, the nearest shopping centre, is well-known for its creative arts and is a 15-minute drive from the cottages.
