Tools for the Kitchen At this intensive weekend blacksmithing course you’ll learn the fundamentals of hand-forging as you make tools for the kitchen with Pete Mattila. This is a perfect primer for anyone interested in the craft of blacksmithing. We explore and practice a range of forging techniques, while deep-diving into a range of tools and processes that are specific to the iron vocabulary. Each participant will make a set of cooking tools that display a number of practical forging processes. Forging and heat-treating of chefs’ knives In this unique 2.5-day workshop, John Hounslow will show us and discuss the geometry of blade design how this translates to the heat-treating and functionality of the blade. With decades of experience and international recognition John will share things he has learned through that journey. Damascus steel and handle material will be provided for this workshop. Participants will walk away with their own Damascus knife that they make built off of these demonstrated techniques.
