Curringa Farm covers 750 acres / 300 hectares. 3000 sheep, poppies, cabbages and cereals. There is an intensive conservation program on the farm. Visitors can learn about native plants, animals and habitat requirements. The licensed centre and cafe caters for up to 100 people for lunches and teas. Open 360 days a year. Located in Tasmania’s Central Highlands district, encompassing a 400-acre area that borders the River Derwent, Lawrenny is a family-owned distillery. Since the early 1800s, Lawrenny Estate has been utilised to supply the finest quality Tasmanian produce. The purity of the surrounding air and water, as well as the picturesque landscape, has provided the perfect location to construct a premium spirits distillery. Lawrenny Estate Distilling has been established as one of only a very few ‘paddock to bottle’ Estate single malt whiskies in the world. The barley grains are grown and harvested from the Lawrenny fields then malted on site before being mashed, fermented and distilled. The barrels are stored in proximity close to the River Derwent, ensuring engagement with pure Tasmanian air over their maturation period. This results in an exceptionally unique, world class single malt whisky.

Lake Meadowbank is between Hamilton and Ouse on the Lyell Highway, a one-hour drive north-west of Hobart. This is the most downstream lake in the Derwent River hydro-scheme. Like all Hydro Tasmania lakes, Lake Meadowbank is stocked with trout. Try your luck fly fishing, spinning or trolling for brown trout - the lake’s most abundant fish - or perhaps a big rainbow trout. Water-skiing, canoeing and swimming are popular here and you can pitch your tent by the shore for a few days and truly get away from it all. Boat launching facilities, toilets, picnic and barbecue areas are available on the lake’s eastern banks and there's easy access from most shores.
